Welcome!

Welcome to Urban Sketchers Philippines!

Mabuhay from the USk-Philippines! We are glad to be a part of Urban Sketchers’ correspondents. Visiting American teacher, Buz Walker-Teach (who is also a member of USk-Singapore), pointed to Janeil Arlegui, a local architect-faculty, about a month ago about USk after reading an article Janeil wrote about sketching water fountains in Manila. Ryan Sumo, is another administrative member for USk-PH. He is a freelance illustrator who has started intensively sketching his experiences. In their initial meeting, they shared their sketching passions and drew out plans for sketching around Manila.

We have soon invited some sketchers we can find over networks and had our first official sketch walk last May 21. The San Sebastian century-old all metal gothic church offered a challenge for our first group of around 10 sketchers. Half of the participants were students.

The session ended with a lunch, and sharing of the sketches produced. We hope to increase our participant with our monthly sessions and will be posting regularly here.

  6. Thanks, Janeil. Do you know of other waterbrush brands available in Manila? The Sakura Koi, perhaps?
